Honorable Dolores Dorsainvil Judge
About Honorable Dolores Dorsainvil

Judge Dorsainvil was appointed as Judge to the District Court for Prince George’s County, MD on February 17, 2020. Judge Dorsainvil presides over trials and issues decisions in numerous cases including civil lawsuits, criminal misdemeanors and certain felonies, domestic violence matters, tax, motor vehicle violations, landlord-tenant disputes, replevin and detinue claims, emergency evaluation petitions, extreme risk protective order petitions, bail review and preliminary (probable cause) hearings for any crime charged in Maryland. She also reviews search warrants and issues decisions regarding expungements, shielding, garnishments, statutory exemptions, and motions filed before and after civil and criminal trials in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

She was formerly an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel where she investigated and prosecuted D.C. lawyers for ethical misconduct. She also worked at the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland where she was an Assistant Bar Counsel. Judge Dorsainvil is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center where she teaches professional responsibility to law students. Judge Dorsainvil is the Chair of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council for Prince George’s County, Maryland (DVCC).

Judge Dorsainvil is a graduate of Boston University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Public Policy. She also received her Juris Doctor degree from American University’s Washington College of Law. She is very active in various bar associations and committees and serves on the Maryland Judicial Ethics Committee, is an appointed member of the ABA Judges Advisory Committee, is the current Co-Chair of the Women’s Committee of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association and sits on the Board of Directors for the Prince George’s County Bar Association. She was also a Past Chair of the MSBA Ethics Committee and Past President of the Black Women’s Bar Association of Suburban Maryland, Inc. (2002-2004).

Judge Dorsainvil has received significant recognition for her work and dedication and is the recipient of the Daily Record’s Maryland Top 100 Women awards (2013, 2015, and 2024 (Circle of Excellence)), the Daily Record’s Leadership in Law, Finalist for the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division National Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year 2011, the 2022 Association of Haitian Professionals Award for Professional Achievement as well as several other honors, as well as the 2024 Nigerian American Lawyers Association’s Judicial Ideal Leadership Award for demonstrating excellence and exemplifying the profession's goals of diversity, inclusion and respect for others. She is also the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association’s Member of the Year for 2025.

She is also the mother of a delightful second-grader.
